Hello! This one was a bit late, but I just had to get it out there!
These last few weeks have been so awesome, I've been so giddy that the other day I found my cereal in the fridge door... and the milk on the counter!
A little shoutout to Nimbitech who I recently joined as a UI/UX Designer & Jr Consultant, and where I already feel I can achieve anything and learn everything. I honestly feel like more companies could do with conducting themselves more like Nimbitech, and could absolutely learn a thing or two from them. They're such a good bunch of people and have been really supportive, which has allowed me to feel at ease and get stuck in. I've been told already that I've exceeded expectations and blown some people away with how I stepped up to the plate a few days in.
Watch this space folks because I feel like great things are going to happen...
Anyway enough from me. We are here to get to know Erfan better!
That's right! - Erfan M ladies and gents. Erfan is a fab guy and is always so supportive of the community. He is a Senior Recruitment Consultant in the Microsoft space and really knows his stuff. You know that I've wanted more people from other role types in the Microsoft community to take part in this Tech Trump Card and mini-interview collection, so I'm chuffed to bits to see Erfan give it a go.
Thank you for joining us to read through/listen to Erfan's mini-interview and to check out his Tech Trump Card! Enjoy!!
Hi Erfan, so tell me...
What does a typical day look like for you? Now that I transitioned from a D365 CE/ PP Functional Consultant, into a Senior Microsoft Recruitment Specialist, my day is very varied and I work flat out helping candidates secure the best opportunities with the Microsoft space or helping organisation grow their Microsoft team.
What 3 words would your colleagues use to describe you?
Hard Working
Team Player
Ambitious
What do you love most about working in the tech/Microsoft industry?
The people first make it great, the events are amazing, and what tech stack does to improve the processes for businesses and organisations, which in turn, makes people's lives better.
How did you get into the first role you had within the tech/Microsoft industry?
I entered the Microsoft industry through a degree apprenticeship at Capgemini, where I worked full-time within the Microsoft practice delivering enterprise projects focused on central government as a D365 CE/PP Functional Consultant.
What single bit of advice would you give a newbie to the tech/Microsoft industry in order to excel?
Get varied project experience, if you feel you are not learning or being challenged on a project over a certain period of time, then you should request to be moved on. Project experience is critical to career development and growth within the space. Make time for certifications as they give you base-level knowledge of the newest areas within the Microsoft stack, which you can then apply to your next project. Drive your career actively!
If you won the lottery, what you do with your winnings?
Donate some to charity, give some away to family and friends, and then go traveling around the world.
Name one hobby or other interest you have outside of tech.
Watching movies/Series when I get time
Traveling outside the UK when I can afford it
Seeing my friends to eat out, when we can organise it
If you could make one positive change in this industry, what would it be and why?
Educate the wider Microsoft community on what a great Microsoft specialist recruitment consultant can do for them, and why they should have a trusted Microsoft career development advisor helping them to navigate the market.
Is there anyone you would love to work with in this industry? If so, please could you name them and your reasons?
AJ Zafar, as he is very smart with all things Power Platform and a really good guy to be around.
Are there any sites that you would like to share with the community?
They can reach out to me on LinkedIn if they ever have any questions or want to discuss how I can help them.
Is there a little note that you would like to add for the community?
Microsoft D365 CE/PP Functional Consultant, Navigating The Market As Your Trusted Career Development Advisor
Awesome answers, thanks Erfan!
I absolutely agree that AJ is an amazing bloke and I'm definitely grateful to be able to call him my friend. I would also love to work with him one day.
I wonder what Erfan's travel list of places to visit would be AND what movies/series he watches...I'm going to be coming at you Erfan with these questions when I next see you. :)
Definitely get in touch with Erfan if you are looking for some advice about navigating your way around the community/industry, he is always up for helping and is a really really nice person.
