Hi Stephen, so tell me….
What's a typical day look like for you?
Mainly lots of emails and meetings with clients and staff. Working to resolve issues and working through challenges keeps me on my toes. Also working on building a more collaborative working environment is easy when everyone is on the same journey. I am also trying to be a better person today than yesterday.
What is your favourite power platform feature and why?
I don’t really have one, if I am honest, I enjoy seeing what people have created, I am still on my journey to create something useful myself but the mobile element and seeing how this is changing ERP and business systems is amazing.
What do you love most about working in this industry?
Seeing how amazing technology is used when it is done right, seeing companies investing their money wisely in tech to aid business growth is great to see.
How did you get into the tech industry?
I was an accountant, I was implementing an ERP system with a tech company, they had nice cars, started at 10am went at 4. I was working 16 hours a day including studying, I wanted their job’s, so I moved into the tech sector.
What single bit of advice would you give a newbie to the industry?
Don’t be afraid to ask a question, everyone had to start somewhere.
If you had an autobiography, what would you title it?
Not always grumpy
Name one hobby or other interest you have outside of tech?
Coaching and mentoring others.
Name one thing that you would like to have achieved within the next 5 years.
To have helped people that I am coaching to achieve their goals, seeing people understanding who they are and what they want is truly amazing to see. Working with them to get to where they want to be is amazing.
Do you have any role models within the industry? If so, could you name a few?
Shout out to Sergio Gusti / Eswar Prakash / William Dorrington / Laura Webb / Sam Smith / Matt Hopkinson / Lloyd Broley / Damien Bird / Beth Burrell / Julian Sharp / Will Butler / Louisa Robinson.
These are people who in one way or another have helped me on my PowerApps journey.
Great answers, thanks Stephen!!
